As if our daily lives aren't already filled with enough dinosaurs, we thought it would be a good time to really dig our, omnivores, teeth into this subject.

Here's my little Paleontologist...

That's what he wants to be when he grows up!

For Art we are learning about sculptures.

Now we get to make our own Dino sculptures.

K~girl decided her triceratops didn't need a body, just a tail;o) We've been learning that Art can be all shapes, sizes, and color and can be whatever one can imagine.

Our last lesson with our Dinosaurs was Dino Math. We thought it would be fun to count all of A~boy's dinosaurs, separate them into dino families and extinct each family with different circumstances. This helped us work on our adding, grouping and subtracting along with introducing many different theories with dinosaurs.

Mommy's Lesson: How to Teach about Dinosaurs?

As a Bible believing family, I realized this fasincation our son has with dinosaurs has really made me research all sides...all theories. And there are a lot of theories, even from christian perspectives-Just as there are a lot of different interpretations of the Bible. I do not and will not try to have all the answers and will trust God to show us what is meant to be seen in his time and way, through whatever resources he sends me to. That is why I believe the Bible is the "Living Word" in my life. God's personal journal to me, just as I pray it will be for our children.

I do believe science will never have all the answers because it is ever changing and based on theories. But Just as in religion, I believe, it is important to learn about ALL sides so we can grow our minds to be ready for the ultimate Truth. So what will I teach the children??? That anything taught without our Creator and Savior centered in our hearts while learning, will not be worth it's weight in knowledge in the End.

S, H and Sh!

Over the past couple of weeks we've learned about our Ss and Hh. So here's a hot air balloon for letter Hh;o) I wish I could say I planned this one out... How cool is that to land (or should I say fly off) on our Hh week?!?!

As a finale to our Hh week Nina and Papa Harley came by and reminded us of another Hh word;o)

Last week was also filled with a field trip to the police station with our field trip group. Unfortunately I can't download my cell pics on the computer. So you won't be seeing K~girl and A~boy in the "bad boy jail", in the back of a police car, or checking out the taser and handcuffs.

All About Me Week

The kids are finding out everything about themselves...and we're finding out it's going to take 2 weeks for this lesson! Or, as CAB would say, it's a never ending lesson- for us girls.

Letter of the Week: Mm

We are also learning where we live on a map.

We also learned about magnets and how they work...and when they don't work;o)

We also learned about germs, why we get sick and about our 5 senses: See, hear, smell, touch and taste...that was a fun lesson as I shocked their taste buds with lime juice:p

Next week we will be putting together a family tree!

I think I was over ambitious doing this blog weekly, so stay posted as I will just have to get everything updated when I can.

Bug Week and Phonics!

Letter of the Week: Bb

We actually had a chance to see a locus coming out of it's shell...After always hearing them, this was my first time to see a locus too...So cool!

Keeping our theme, we made a batch of burnt brownies. Cooking is a great way to learn our math skills. We learned our measurements, our time...and were also able to incorporate cause and effect into our lesson~ What happens when you don't watch the time;o)
We also made up a tally chart of the bugs we would find through out the week.

A~boy saw the beetle and says he's the one that sings "I Want To Hold Your Hand"...wrong Beetles my son;o)
We learned that there are over 2 million bugs for every person
Bugs/insects have 6 legs and an exoskeleton , most have wings.

Only K~girl can watch a show on bugs while eating...yuck!
K~girl's second name is our Fly/Ant Whisperer...she caught these flies in a 5min time span.
K~girl even caught a fly in the toaster oven...Toast anyone???

We have learned that worms are not bugs, but we think they still fit in to the creepy crawly categories. Here the kids are eating mud(pudding), dirt(crackers), and worms(gummy worms).

After we finish our creepy crawly treats with our friend Avery, it's time to dig for worms.
Our Scientific Investigation:

1. Make an observation~ We're not finding worms because the ground is too dry.

2. Hypothesis~If we poor water on the ground we think the worms will come to the service.

3. Conclusion: We only found a yucky grub worm. We probably need a wet day. I know there is more steps in the Scientific Method, but they're only in Pre-K;)

Here is a wonderful find... We're only on the second lesson, but I have already found this book helpful with K~girl's writing, sounds, and I have identified the letter's we need to work on for K~girl's speech!

School's In Session

This year K~girl is in Preschool, and A~boy will be learning along side her!!! As much as they absorb and learn, and all the art projects I would love to keep forever, I figured this is a perfect way to hold on to these precious moments and growth of their ever curious minds. This will not just be my own personal keepsake, but a way the kids can share with you the latest they have learned at the end of each week. This is also a wonderful tool to keep Mommy accountable;o)This year we will be getting back to our letters, letter sounds, numbers, writing, people and places of the bible, and daily learning in everything we do...We'll be exploring the world, doing lots of fun stuff with our friends, and even going on some awesome field trips!!!
